Who is responsible
Computer Ambulance is responsible for the customer information it collects to run this service. Contact help@computerambulance.co.uk or call 07525 751122 about privacy, a data-rights request or a complaint.
Information you provide
The enquiry form collects your name, preferred phone or email response, the contact detail you choose to share, the problem and its description, an optional postcode and a preferred time. We also keep the enquiry reference, submission date and your request for a reply. Booked-work records can include the visit address, agreed scope, equipment details, work carried out, approvals, invoices and correspondence.
Please do not submit passwords, banking information, medical information or private documents through the website. If someone contacts us on your behalf, we may receive your details from them and check their authority before discussing your device or account.
Why we use it
- Enquiries, quotes and agreed support: steps you ask us to take before a contract and performance of that contract.
- Communicating with a business contact or someone acting for you: our legitimate interest in arranging and delivering the support requested.
- Website security and spam prevention: our legitimate interest in maintaining a reliable and secure service.
- Invoices and legally required records: compliance with tax and other applicable legal obligations.
- Complaints and claims: compliance with data protection duties and our legitimate interest in investigating and resolving disputes.
Providing information is your choice, but without sufficient contact and problem details we may be unable to respond. The contact checkbox requests a reply; it does not enrol you in marketing or authorise computer access. We do not sell enquiry details.
Postcode checks
Our server sends the postcode to Postcodes.io to identify its area. This serves our legitimate interest in answering the coverage question you asked. The checker does not create a customer enquiry or save the postcode in our enquiry records. Hosting and provider systems may process technical request logs. A full postcode is not sent to site analytics.
The result is an automated indication of support options, not a booking decision or refusal of service. You can contact us to discuss it with a person.
Who handles the information
Netlify hosts the website, runs the postcode endpoint and processes and stores submitted forms, including spam filtering. Computer Ambulance can view enquiries in its protected Netlify account. Website requests may include IP addresses, browser information, requested URLs and timestamps for delivery and security.
Email messages and any enquiry notifications pass through our email-forwarding and mailbox providers. Only information needed for the relevant service is shared. Professional advisers or public authorities may receive information where necessary for a legal obligation or claim.
We explain any specialist referral or separate remote-support tool before you use it. Device contents are not sent to a specialist simply because you filled in this form.
Processing outside the UK
Netlify operates internationally, including in the United States, and its service providers may process information outside the UK. Its data processing agreement describes the contractual safeguards for customer data and international transfers. Contact us for the safeguards applicable to your enquiry and how to obtain a copy.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not become a booking: normally up to 12 months after the last contact, then deleted from the enquiry system and routine correspondence.
- Booked work: necessary agreement, approval, invoice and service records for up to six years after completion to meet record-keeping needs and deal with claims. Unnecessary diagnostic detail is not retained merely because an invoice must be kept.
- Temporary file copies: only for the agreed repair, transfer or recovery, with removal following the agreed handover and any separately agreed retention period.
- Disputes or legal holds: relevant records may be held longer while a dispute or legal requirement remains active, then reviewed for deletion.
We review enquiry and correspondence records and securely delete information that is no longer needed. Hosting logs and backup copies also follow the provider's retention arrangements. You can ask about the period applicable to your information.
Cookies and measurement
This website does not currently load visitor analytics or advertising trackers. Read our cookies and privacy settings page for the technologies used.
Your data protection rights
You may ask to access or correct information, request deletion or restriction, and receive information in a portable form where that right applies. If we rely on consent for an optional purpose, you can withdraw it without affecting the lawfulness of earlier use. Rights depend on the purpose and any applicable legal exceptions.
We normally respond to data-rights requests within one month. We may need reasonable information to verify identity or clarify a request, and will explain any permitted extension. There is normally no fee.
We do not use enquiry information for solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. Spam checks help manage the form; you can call if you think a message has not reached us.
Concerns about privacy
Use our privacy complaints process. We acknowledge data protection complaints within 30 days, investigate without undue delay and explain the outcome. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
